Song: Female Robbery by The Neighborhood
POV: You get engaged for a deal to benefit each other
Her shoe hit a bump in the pier, and Thea fell onto the wood. She caught her fall but still lay on her stomach with her face pressed to the wood. Her breaths were heavy in her chest, and the adrenaline was wearing thin. Just give up. You have nowhere to go.
“Thea,” she knew the voice. Jace. One who wasn’t a minion for the reliever but liked to do business with her. She had interacted in a few situations and had no clue what to think of him. He was kind to her, unlike the other people who came to form business deals with the reliever.
She peered up at his hazel eyes. He held a hand out to help her up. She expected him to roughly pull her to her feet and drag her back to her, but his touch was nothing more than a guide.
“Here to take me back?” She mumbled, swallowing down her pride that was lost long ago.
“Not quite,” his words shocked her, and her chest tightened feeling like she was falling into another trap.
“What?” she breathed.
He smiled, and he leaned close to her ear. “I help you, and you help me. There is an easy solution to both of our problems.” Thea considered his words as her eyes landed on the two of the reliever’s minions. “Marriage.”
She wasn’t sure if she heard him correctly, with her ears still pounding from her sprint of short-lived freedom. Thea pulled away from him, with her mind wrapping around his words.
“What?” She breathed.
“I have money that can pay for your debt," he said casually, like he didn't just offer to marry her.
“And what’s in it for you?" She hissed out. "Or is it for me to be in yet another debt, but to you?"
He closed the little distance she had created. “I don’t care about the money, and it wouldn’t be a debt but a trade-off.”
“And what’s in it for you?” She repeated.
He only stared down at her, pinning her under his gaze. “I just need an answer,” he glanced over his shoulder, and minions were making their way to them. “And sooner rather than later.”
Thea took a deep breath in, looking at the minions. She didn’t know what Jace’s play was, but her heart was slowing instead of picking up pace like it did when she made the deal with the reliever.
Her eyes meet his. “Fine, I'll marry you.”
