Mundus #1 (Violetta) Draft One
On March 10, 2023 at 11:02pm, I finally finished the first draft of Violetta’s story in the Mundus world with it being 62,214 words and 51 chapters (plus an epilogue)!!!
Time for the truth. I have started this story over and over again. There have been multiple beginnings to this story and even more different versions of Violetta Von, the main character. There were only a few things I knew across the many different beginnings- she was a soldier, her father was also a soldier who died when she was around eight to twelve years old, and she was a bastard. That was the only consistency and elements I wanted to make a story out of it. The problem was I didn't have a plot, only a character.
There have been many plots with the character Violetta, but none of them stuck, and none of them lasted. I had even plotted a whole complete story once or twice before but never finished the draft. I would have around ten to twenty thousand words in the draft, hitting just the second act, and then would take a few days off. . . And then never came back to it.
For this version of Violetta Von, I finally had her story and who she was, but again I started her story where I thought was the right place- two times- and it simply wasn’t. Even when I was writing this draft, I didn’t know if I was going to finish it until I did.
Is the story perfect? Not at all. Is it even a completed story? For the most part. Would I allow anyone to read this draft? Heck no.
This draft is a garbage fire of a mess. It’s not good. . . It’s not bad, but it’s something to work with. There were many times during this draft when I was working on a scene with the intent of putting a piece of information in it. . . And one hundred percent skipped over it. The bones, however, to the story are finally there, and I do think the action in the scenes is good, but what is said and the information given is. . . Misplaced, to say it lightly.
Well. . . Onto draft two, with the end goal of draft two, actually being a story.
